One of the first film shoots for the Motoman, with TVC and the late Giaco Angelini. The Motoman arm was used to control the camera move and an extra motor axis rotated the spaceship, designed and built by Dave Roberts of London Models to have removable panels. In this way we could shoot in sections. Stress ran high on this set as it was shot in winter, and overnight after the prelight day, with no hot lights burning, the shaft of the set contracted and slipped a few degrees and then gripped again. The offset was quickly re-programmed and we could begin shooting.
